Four Mills Nature Reserve
A 56-acre preserve along the Wissahickon Creek and the headquarters of Wissahickon Trails, with two half-mile loop trails of hard-packed dirt. The 1891 Four Mills Barn on the grounds was designed by Philadelphia architect Horace Trumbauer for an estate called Abendruh.
Fort Washington State Park
493 acres named for the temporary fort Washington's troops built in the fall of 1777 before heading to Valley Forge, open sunrise to sunset every day of the year.
