Active Acres Farm

A 230-acre working farm on Highland Road with seasonal produce, plants, and pick-your-own pumpkins and strawberries when the fields cooperate. Come fall the property also runs Sleepy Hollow at Active Acres Farm, its seasonal haunt.

Brian S. Gregg Memorial Park

A pocket park on Congress Street named for Brian Gregg, the Newtown Borough officer killed in the line of duty in 2005. The tot lot is why parents out here bring the little ones, and it's due for a roughly $185,000 rebuild with a new main play structure.

Clark Nature Center

A 50.6-acre township preserve on Route 413 with a wilderness trail that loops the whole property along two seasonal streams. Turkey and deer turn up regularly, and a fenced community herb garden behind the garage is open for residents to tend and harvest.

The Court Inn

Built in 1733 as the Half-Moon Inn, this old tavern is now the Newtown Historic Association's home, with a second-floor room devoted to Edward Hicks, the Quaker folk painter who lived in town and gave the world The Peaceable Kingdom. It only opens Sundays, 1 to 4.

Linton Memorial Fountain and Park

The neighborhood playground on S Lincoln where Newtown Borough runs its Friday-night Music in the Park through the summer, then packs the lawn for Fall Fest with food trucks and a DJ. The old memorial fountain gives it the name; the kids give it the noise.

Newtown Historic Association Research Center

The Newtown Historic Association's free archive, where you can pull deeds, wills, diaries, and photographs back to 1725, when Newtown was the county seat. It keeps a deep file on Edward Hicks, the Quaker preacher and folk painter who lived here, and opens for house-history and genealogy digs Tuesday mornings and Thursday nights.

Newtown Theatre

America's oldest continuously operating movie theater: it screened footage of the San Francisco earthquake in 1906 and never stopped. The 1883 brick building on State Street still runs about 50 films a year, plus tribute bands and stand-up nights.

A 22.8-acre township park whose main event is a large inclusive playground built for kids ages 2 to 12. The Newtown Trail crosses the property, so you can walk from the swings clear into Tyler State Park.
