The Best Restaurants in Ambler
For a borough this size, Ambler eats remarkably well. Ranked, reasoning shown.
Butler Avenue packs more good dinners per block than towns twice its size: a chef's BYOB the town books weeks out, a French room worth the good bottle, and fresh pasta rolled in-house a few doors down. One rule holds the list together. If we wouldn't send you there, it isn't on it.
Mary BYOB
Chef Chad Rosenthal's tiny BYOB, the one the critics single out and the town books weeks ahead. Dinner Wednesday through Saturday, worth planning around.
La Provence
Coq au vin and creme brulee on Butler Pike, no bridge crossing required. A proper French room, and BYOB, so bring the good bottle.
Sorrentino Pasta + Provisions
Fresh pasta rolled in-house on East Butler, to eat there or take home. The provisions travel as well as the dinners do.
Bridgets Steakhouse
The steakhouse for anniversaries and closed deals: white napkins, real martinis, no shortcuts. The occasion is in good hands.
Cantina Feliz
Upscale modern Mexican that moved to Ambler in 2024 and filled the room fast. Mole, mezcal, and margaritas that take the assignment seriously.
From The Boot
Red-gravy Italian on East Butler with portions from the old country's generous wing, and the biggest crowd in town to show for it. BYOB, and plan on leftovers.
Saffron Indian Kitchen
The Butler Avenue kitchen that made Ambler a curry town, named Philadelphia's best Indian more than once. The lunch buffet has a constituency.
Geronimo's Peruvian Cuisine
The only Peruvian in town, doing rotisserie chicken and lomo saltado. The green sauce should be bottled and sold.
Porter
The new American room in the historic 1893 hotel space, plated like it means business and paired with the Gaslight cocktail bar next door. Young yet, but the early tables are already talking.
